Aerospace giants reveal industry value of working with research students

Industry leaders from Rolls Royce, Airbus and Safran Landing Systems spoke of the tangible benefits of working with research students at the Institute of Aerospace Technology (IAT) Showcase 2016 at The University of Nottingham on 25 November. 

Dr Michael Klingsporn of Rolls Royce Deutschland; Dr Alexander Peiffer of Airbus Innovations Group and Sylvain Jaber of Safran Landing Systems highlighted key projects that have been adopted by their companies on the back of aerospace research collaborations with the University. 

Following these insightful presentations, IAT Showcase attendees were able to tour the cutting-edge facilities at the Aerospace Technology Centre and the recently commissioned £5.6m Gas Turbine and Transmissions Centre.

Seven early stage researchers from the Marie-Sklodowska Curie PhD programme INNOVATE were on hand to demonstrate their current research projects. 

The IAT plays a key role in major government-funded aerospace programmes, supported by European investment and working with global aerospace leaders, conducting technology and knowledge transfer activities to help secure the UK’s position as a global leader in the aerospace sector.
