The figures on this page show the number of active cases of Covid-19 for staff and students who are living or working in Nottingham and still in the self-isolation period following a positive test result.
There are currently 37 active cases - 19 cases among students and 18 cases among staff.
Alongside the national ‘Pillar 2’ testing regime for people with symptoms of Covid-19, the University has its own asymptomatic testing programme. The programme has now been recommended for national accreditation, meaning that any positive cases can begin their isolation period from the day they took the University test, and results are linked to NHS Track and Trace. It will mean our case data may be higher than other universities.
Notification of cases
Students or staff who have symptoms of Covid-19, have received a positive test result or are otherwise required to self-isolate, should notify the University. This will help us to minimise the risk to others and enable us to liaise with public health authorities to keep everyone safe. As per UK government guidelines, if you have symptoms of coronavirus you and all members of your household, who have not been fully vaccinated, must self-isolate until you have your test results.

Testing and contact tracing at the University
To deliver fast access to symptomatic coronavirus testing on campus, two NHS walk-in testing stations are based on University Park Campus and Jubilee Campus. Appointments are bookable online and facilities are open to staff, students and members of the local community.
To ensure effective use of campus space and contact tracing, the University also uses our wi-fi network to support local public health and the national NHS Test and Trace scheme in identifying close contacts of positive cases where they occur on campus.

When someone at the University tests positive
When a member of the University community tests positive, they must self-isolate in line with government guidelines. People who have had both of their Covid vaccinations will not need to self-isolate following close contact with someone who has Covid-19. You’ll still need to take a test and self-isolate if it’s positive.
When we receive notification of a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19, we follow detailed processes and procedures, tracking and tracing to reduce onward transmission, communications to relevant staff and students, and deep cleaning of affected areas where appropriate.
Staff and students who are confirmed as having Covid-19 are asked to share details of their close contacts to allow us to inform those that will need to self-isolate in line with government guidelines.

Supporting students or staff who are self-isolating
We appreciate how challenging it can be for students who are starting or returning to University and need to self-isolate because of Covid-19 cases.
To ensure we can support students in the best way possible, we will contact anyone who is self-isolating to check on their welfare and offer practical and emotional support, and where needed, support packs of food and essentials. We will also ensure that they know how to access our mental health, wellbeing and online fitness services while isolating.
Where students are self-isolating in University Halls with symptoms or a positive test result, meals and mail will be delivered to their room three times a day, and hall wardens will make regular checks to see how they are feeling and identify any additional needs. Where students in University Halls are required to isolate by NHS Test and Trace, they must also notify the university, and they will be given scheduled access to laundry facilities, outdoor spaces and a specific times to take meals in the dining rooms.
Where staff are self-isolating, managers will maintain appropriate contact with them during this period and plan their return to work at the end of the 10 days if their symptoms have ceased and they are able to recommence working.
We are in regular contact with Nottingham City Council, local public health officials and other partners to make sure that we are sharing information about the local situation and responding to the latest guidance.
